Unexpected visitors

I looked out the window to check on the three chickadees that have been frequenting my backyard, and was delighted to find six grosbeaks at the feeder! They were so pretty and plump, and they seemed quite happy to preen and pose for my camera.

Are they pine grosbeaks? We used to get a pair of rose-breasted when we lived in our townhouse near the woods. We don't get them here at our house, but we do get many other varieties of birds. I love them all. It's been so cold, that we've had to keep the feeders full and hung out suet for warmth to their tiny bodies.
Wonderful photo, by the way.

They look like pine grosbeaks to me... but I'm no expert! I'm just delighted that they've come visiting. I love all our wild visitors, too.

Well, birds are another thing we have in common. I love them - could stare at my feeders all day...

Thanks, Faith! Diane, me too-- I feel so honoured when birds come around, and I'd happily watch them all day. (The mice, too!)
