writing in the dark

sleep steals words
sound steals sleep
blanked-out windows
artifice cover
for a forest of dreams
dark, rank moss
cut through by sirens
emergency lights
drunk voices
loading cars
loaded engines
pealing backwards
sneaking home
through not-dark
as the sun goes round
and round and round
in tireless circles

I have been away from the computer for a couple of days. Life, vacation time and home renos have gotten the better of me. I hope to catch up on everyone's blogs over the next few days, but please forgive me if I don't make it by your place right away. The renos won't be finished for a few more days yet, and now sleep is eluding me again... yawn!

Love the imagery - rank moss ... fortunately, I live in the country, so it's seldom that anything other than the noises in my own head interrupt the sleep; believe me, I've had those nights!

Hope your renovations are going well. Maybe afterwords you can get that much needed rest. When you're ready you can return to normal posting/ commenting. Have a great night.

Oh, thank you all! :) I have been on the computer much less these days, thanks to my vacation time and my obsessive home-renovating. I really appreciate the gift of your comments, and though I'm not doing the blog rounds daily right now, I'm trying to make it by every few days to see all your new creations. Happy summer! :) Or winter, if you're south of the equator.
